Lg Firmware Update Stuck

Lg Firmware Update Stuck

My lg g4 is stuck on the firmware update screen. I was trying to downgrade from marshmallow to lollipop using LGUP but for some reason it didnt work and LGUP.

I have a possible fix for anyone who gets locked up on the firmware update screen and is not able to power down and/or boot up. (The method I used can damage any phone. I do not make any warranties about the completeness, reliability and accuracy of this information.

It worked for me and may not work for you. Any action you take upon the information contained in this post is strictly at your own risk and I will not be liable for any losses and damages in connection with the use of this information.) LG tech support told me i needed to send in my phone to get repaired for 3 weeks. Unfortunately I had some time sensitive data on my phone that I needed to retrieve so this was not an immediate option. I was not able to retrieve said data in time and lost a bid on a contract due to this. In hope that I can save someone the headache, aggravation and loss of money that i went through here is what i figured out.

After spending 5 hours researching I was finally able to boot back up. (This may only be a temp fix so I advise to follow LG's advice in sending the phone in to be repaired if they so request. This will at the least allow you to access your phone until such time).

If your phone is locked up on the firmware update screen w/ download percentage hanging at 0. I advise you to wait at least an hour before attempting this and make sure you are outside where reception is good in the off chance that the phone is trying to download but has poor reception. If at anytime the download progress bar rises above 0 percentage do not attempt this and contact a boost care representative. If the phone is actually downloading the update and u attempt this you could damage the phone. This worked for me and at the time i was prepared to take the risk because of the time constraints. On lockup screen hold the power button and the volume down button simultaneously.

This will hard shutdown the phone. After shutdown press the power button to reboot. If the phone boots up you are good to go and can skip the next step. If the phone boots up to the firmware update screen again wait another hour to see if it attempts to download. If the progress bar is still at 0 proceed to step 5. Repeat steps 1 - 2.

As the phone is rebooting hold only the power button pressed until you see that the phone has bypassed the firmware update screen. Hope this helps.

Update

My LG G Pad 7.0 will not complete the software update. It has downloaded the software, and it regularly gives me notifications that it has and it is waiting to complete the install/update. When I click to start the update process, it re-boots, goes into the Android Updating Software little display (a little android robot getting heart surgery!?!?). After like 3 minutes or so, another little Android robot appears with a red slash and an exclamation mark appears, saying 'Update Not Installed'. This shows for like 3 more minutes (undoing any changes made I s'pose), then it re-boots to the home screen, I believe with another message saying the update process was unsuccessful.

I've been through this scenario multiple times, always the same, unsuccessful result. Can someone tell me what I need to do to get this update to complete? I bet my Android version is wayy old by now and the download is consuming a ton-0-space, making any other install/update nearly impossible without deleting other apps to make needed space to download/install updates. I'm sick of it and want to fix this thing!! Hello Mark D., thank you for taking the time to write to us. That appears to be a software issue, please try these steps; 1. With the device turned off, press and hold the Volume Down button, then press and hold the Power button at the same time until the tablet turns on.

Press the Volume Down button twice to highlight Recovery mode. Press the Power button to start Recovery mode. You'll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark and the words 'No command.' While holding down the Power button, press the Volume Up button.

Use the volume buttons to scroll to ' wipe cache partition' then press the Power button to select it. When the cache is cleared, press the Power button on 'reboot system now.' And then try again. If that does not work, you may perform a factory reset (A master reset will result in the loss of all data stored on the device including 3rd party applications.) You can also visit a Sprint repair center, our techs there can do some troubleshooting for the device issue.
