I can host+join multiplayer in Rise of Nations just fine. However, there's not many people playin it online so I want to play the expansion [Thrones and Patriots] instead. In this expansion I can't get multiplayer to work however; when I host a game no-one is able to join and when I try to join a game I get one of two errors: 1) connection failed for unknown reasons or 2) your game version(03.)does not match the sessions version(07.5) I've got the gold edition and when I installed it I never had to download any patch whatsoever.

When I try the in-game updater it says I've got the most recent version installed. I can't find any update to version 07.5 either. Since I can now consistantly beat the computer on the hardest setting in regular RoN and with the lack of multiplayer games there, I really wish to play the expansion and I have no clue why I cannot join and/or host games in the expansion pack. I even use the same host and client port in both games! Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards, Kirbz Author Replies. 'I never had to download any patch whatsoever' I think that would be your problem right there. Try reinstalling the game so that you can try and get the patch. Normally it will ask to install the patch the very FIRST time you click multiplayer gamespy. If this doesn't work you might be able to download the patch manually (although this option would be much more difficult) either by checking out our download section, or the microsoft RON website T&P, or big huge games website.

If all else fails try browsing through the tech fourms here because chances are someone had a similar problem to yours. Good luck and if you do get online ok, then join one of my games sometimes. I am having exact same problem as this guy, the only things that differ between us is i am using windows vista, i am receiving the error: 'your game version(03.)does not match the sessions version(07.5)' But the problem is i have reinstalled thrones and patriots and still can't get it to work online. It says there are no updates available which is very frustrating.

The game i am using is the gold edition. Should i be re-installing both rise of nations and the add on? However i am able to play the Rise of Nations online and connect, so i don't understand why not the add on Throne and patriots? Please somebody help, Thanks, Alexander.

Meeeeeh:/ The same thing is happening here. Just like Alex, reinstalling, even cleaning the registry manually, won't help. The game insists it is up-to-date. Only i can't get into any gamespy games with the same error messages that kirbz was having, or, sometimes, a neverending connection attempt. This is the gold edition and it is also a cheap distribution from an 'older games'-series, you know, bestsellergameseylike. Maybe that's true for you Alexander?
